Violin

The man received the violin as a gift from his previous girlfriend, who enjoyed falling asleep to the soft melody of his music.  She brought it back from Paris.  The bridge of the violin was engraved with their initials and was a gift for their anniversary.

Revolver

The woman went to a local pawn shop, carrying in her pocket, the diamond ring she had received from her husband. Her intentions were clear: trade the diamond ring for a revolver. She could no longer be married to a violinist. His obsession with his music had driven her crazy for too long. He played most hours of the day, leaving little time for romance.

Short Fiction

“It’s very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who’s learning to play violin.” That’s what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.
